E-Learning

e-learning

Learning online can give you the flexibility and freedom to study where you want and at your own pace. A wide range of media is used to provide communication between tutors and students and to help with learning. These include:

  • TV and radio programmes
  • written materials, such as books and manuals
  • audio tapes and CD-ROMs
  • online information
  • online groups
  • video conferencing
  • email support

You are usually given the opportunity to communicate with other students by email or through website discussion groups, which allows you learn from the rest of the group and comment on each other's work.

There is a huge variety of subjects available, from basic skills courses to postgraduate degrees. To get a feel of what e-learning might be like, try taking a free taster course online. If you don't have Internet access at home, you can get free access at UK libraries and online centres.

TOP 5 REASONS FOR USING E-LEARNING

1. If you want to learn when and where you want, at your own pace.
2. If you have work or family commitments that make it difficult for you to attend a regular course.
3. If you work irregular hours or shifts.
4. If you have health or mobility problems that make attendance or travel difficult.
5. If you live a long way from a training provider.
